Janet Haufler is one of the most important but unknown local artists. Today, 87 years old, she lives a quiet life, but in Manuela Trapp’s film Janet Haufler gives exciting and touching insights into her eventful life.
Her artistic career began in traditional spoken theatre, from the 1970s Janet Haufler devoted herself to avant-garde forms of theatre. With her artistic companion, actor and director Norbert Klassen, she shapes a new, experimental theatre language, which has served as a model for many performers and theatre makers ever since. Later she worked with young performance artists.
Janet Haufler’s unconditional, lifelong will to artistic work – against all odds and without regard to her own person – is still impressive today. And encouraging.
